GAME: Boston Bruins (12-5-6-4) at Florida Panthers (9-14-4-1).
TIME: Wednesday, 7:30 p.m. EST.
A pair of struggling teams meet when the Boston Bruins begin a four-game road trip in a matchup with the Florida Panthers.
Boston begins the trip on a three-game winless streak, and with just one victory in its last eight contests (1-3-3-1). Florida, meanwhile, has lost two in a row and is winless in its last five.
The Bruins fell to 0-1-2 in their last three games on Monday, skating to a 2-2 tie at home with the Ottawa Senators.
Glen Murray, who had a goal and an assist, gave Boston a 2-1 lead with a breakaway goal 6:45 into the second period, but Ottawa tied it with 3:39 remaining in the second as the Bruins dropped to 0-2-3 in their last five home games.
"We just didn't play good enough," Boston coach Mike Sullivan said. "We've got to be more consistent from game to game and period to period."
Bruins center Brian Rolston also felt like his team didn't play with much urgency.
"If we don't come out with a hard effort every night, we're not going to win hockey games," Rolston said. "That's the bottom line. We have to go as hard as we can every night."
Following Wednesday's game, the Bruins face Washington, Ottawa and Montreal on their trip.
Florida dropped to 0-2-2-1 in its last five games with a 4-3 overtime loss Saturday to the Atlanta Thrashers at the Office Depot Center.
The Panthers led 3-1 in the second period, but Atlanta went on to score the next three goals, including the winner at 2:57 of overtime.
Florida squandered a lead of two or more goals for the third time during its five-game winless streak, something goalie Roberto Luongo is concerned about.
"We can't keep our heads down," Luongo said. "We've got to win some games if we want to make the playoffs."
The Panthers, who have just four wins in 14 home games this season, conclude their four-game homestand on Friday with a matchup against Montreal.
